acute radiation syndrome的用法详解

Acute Radiation Syndrome (ARS) is a medical disorder caused by a high dose of radiation exposure over a short period of time. It is also called radiation sickness or radiation toxicity. ARS is characterized by a combination of nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, hair loss, rash, fatigue, and other symptoms.

The severity of ARS depends on the amount of radiation exposure and the rate at which it was absorbed by the body. Generally, radiation doses higher than 0.7 Gray (Gy) and absorbed within a few hours can lead to severe consequences. More severe radiation doses (more than 6 to 8 Gy) can cause death within the first 48 hours.

ARS can be caused by accidental or intentional radiation exposure. In general, ARS is caused by a single large dose of radiation rather than from a prolonged or chronic exposure to lower doses. Examples of accidental exposure can include exposure to radiotherapy treatment, a nuclear disaster like the Chernobyl disaster, or a nuclear weapon.

In the event of a radiation accident or disaster, the best way to prevent ARS is to move away from the source of radiation, shelter from the radiation, and if possible, wear protective clothing. Treatment for ARS typically involves supportive care, such as managing nausea and fluids, to keep the patient stable until the body can heal itself. Depending on the severity of the radiation exposure, medications and other treatments may be used.
