Congenital Hydrocephalus

Congenital hydrocephalus is a severe condition that occurs in infants where there is an abnormal build up of fluid in the brain, causing the head to become abnormally large. It can be caused by several factors, including genetic factors, maternal infections and congenital malformations.

Symptoms

Congenital hydrocephalus is usually diagnosed shortly after birth. This procedure requires regular monitoring to ensure it is functioning correctly. In some cases, surgery may be required to remove excess fluid from the brain or to remove any obstructions that may be causing the fluid to accumulate.
