Quisling is a term originating from the German phrase \"quißling,\" which means \"traitor\". The term is commonly used to describe individuals or groups of people who collaborate with oppressive or occupying forces, or who openly betray their own side.

Quisling is an adjective used to refer to someone who willingly serves an occupying and oppressive power. The term became internationally famous in 1940, when Nazi-backed Vidkun Quisling, a Norwegian politician and leader of the pro-German collaborationist party NS, assumed power in Norway. Quisling was found guilty of high treason after the war and was executed.
