chromosome cycle的用法详解
'
Chromosome cycle refers to the alternation of a cell from a diploid form to a haploid form and back to diploid again, which generally occurs during the formation of sex cells. In this process, the chromosome number is halved and then restored.
Chromosome cycle is an important phase of the cell cycle, which is divided into several phases: interphase, prophase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase. In the interphase, the chromosomes are duplicated, and the centrioles replicate. In the next phase, the prophase, the chromosomes condense and become visible while the nucleolus disintegrates. During the metaphase, the duplicated chromosomes line up in the middle of the cell. Then in the anaphase, the duplicated chromosomes are pulled apart and form two equal cell sets. Finally, in the telophase, two sets of chromosomes are formed and copied, ultimately completing the chromosome cycle.
Chromosome cycle is essential for the reproduction of cells, especially in sexual reproduction. The two sets of chromosomes that were copied in the telophase, commonly known as gametes, are the ingredient of the fertilized egg. Therefore, without the completion of the chromosome cycle, it would be impossible for an organism to reproduce.
